Caring Campus Committee

Committee Overview

The Caring Campus Committee at Ranger College, developed in collaboration with the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC), serves to implement and sustain strategies that foster a welcoming, supportive, and student-centered culture.

  1. Facilitate Connection: Build meaningful relationships between students, staff, and faculty to enhance students' sense of belonging and connection to the college.
  2. Encourage Engagement: Promote intentional actions and behaviors that positively impact student retention, persistence, and success.
  3. Champion Equity: Ensure that all students, regardless of background or circumstances, experience equitable support and encouragement.
  4. Coordinate Efforts: Align the work of faculty, staff, and administrators to create a cohesive and collaborative approach to student success.
  5. Monitor and Sustain Impact: Evaluate the effectiveness of Caring Campus initiatives and ensure their long-term integration into the college's culture.

To create a culture of care and connectedness on college campuses by fostering intentional actions and behaviors among staff and faculty that enhance students' sense of belonging, increase engagement, and support equitable student success.

The Caring Campus Committee plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive campus culture. Its key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and Implementing Strategies
    • Identify and promote evidence-based practices that encourage meaningful
      interactions between staff, faculty, and students.
    • Ensure strategies align with the college's mission and the goals of the Caring Campus initiative.
  2. Fostering a Culture of Care
    • Create a welcoming environment where students feel connected and supported.
    • Model behaviors and practices that enhance student engagement and belonging.
  3. Engaging Faculty and Staffo Collaborate with all departments to encourage active participation in Caring Campus initiatives.
    • Provide training and resources to equip staff and faculty with the tools needed to implement caring practices.
  4. Promoting Equity and Inclusiono Advocate for practices that address the diverse needs of students.
    • Ensure every student has equitable access to support, encouragement, and resources.
  5. Communicating and Coordinating Efforts
    • Act as a liaison between the committee and the broader campus community to share progress, challenges, and successes.
    • Work collaboratively across departments to unify efforts toward a student-centered culture.
  6. Monitoring Progress and Impact
    • Establish metrics to measure the success of Caring Campus initiatives (e.g., student retention, engagement, and satisfaction).
    • Regularly assess and refine strategies based on feedback and outcomes.
  7. Sustaining the Initiative
    • Build long-term commitment to Caring Campus principles by embedding them into institutional policies and practices.
    • Identify resources and opportunities to expand the reach and impact of the initiative.
